An "In the Motherhood" Moment
Seth is 3 weeks old now. It's been harder this time around in that, along with waking up throughout the night to nurse Seth, I also need to get up around 6:30 in the morning and get Maya ready for school and out the door by 7 am. Let's say it's been hard to make myself get out of bed at 6:30. This morning, I pressed snooze 1 too many times and didn't get out of bed until 6:55. Luckily Maya has an alarm clock and was already dressed. I just needed to get her breakfast and lunch taken care of. So, with 2 minutes to get out the door, we look in our pantry. No time for the usual bowl of cereal. She doesn't like the pop tarts we have. The box of granola bars is empty, but still sitting on the pantry shelf. So, we settle on a little baggy of Saltine crackers and her water bottle as a breakfast for her to eat as she walks to the bus stop. I felt so bad. It's time to do a serious run to the grocery store.

I'd say 4 out of 5 mornings Jacob goes to school having just drinken a sippy cup of Chocolate Milk. He refuses to eat anything else, because in Jacob's words they "have snacks at school", but it always makes me feel so guilty.
Do they serve breakfast at school? In a pinch, I tell Aubrey to do that. She has to pay for it, but it just comes out of her lunch money. She gets hot lunch about once a week, or whenever I don't feel like making a lunch. =)
at least you had water and saltines for her ...
i sent E to school without anything in her lunch bag one day. i totally forgot to put food in it and she still reminds me that I FORGOT to make her lunch one day. Horrible me! I didn't even have the excuse of a newborn!
it's times like this though when it'd be nice to have parents around who could pick up some groceries for you, right?
maybe next time you could rob your food storage, ha!
