Memory Game

I saw this on my friend Sarah's blog. I really like this little blog game. I'm always curious about how people remember me or what they think of when they think of me. I'm usually surprised if someone mentions they were thinking of me or talking about me. I see myself as an "out-of-sight, out-of mind" kind of person. Anywho, I'd love to see what you all remember.

1. Leave a comment with a memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and read friends' memories of you. If you leave a memory for me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll do the same for you. If you don't have a blog (shame on you!!), I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

This should be fun.

I've been tagged

The rules of the game. each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post the player then tags 5-6 people and their post names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. let the person know when you have posted your answers. Here it goes:

Ten years ago: I was home for the summer after my freshman year of college. I spent the summer lifegaurding and goofing off with friends in my free time.

Five thing's on today's to do list:
1. Grocery Shopping
2. Help Matt put up crown moulding.
3. Keep the kids entertained doing something other than playing video games
4. Get Maya to practice her piano and teach a few other lessons
5. Finish reading a book the second time through (Eclipse, for you twilight fans)

Snacks I enjoy:
Chocolate desserts
Popcorn
Fresh fruit

Things I would do if I were a millionaire:
Pay off every bill !!
Buy a car that doesn't constantly break down
Buy great furniture for my home
Buy a timeshare on a few Hawaiin islands
Invest the rest for the future

Places I have lived:
Wisconsin, Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Utah, California, Texas

Here are the people I am tagging: Jess, Rach, Maranda/Adam
I won't be offended if you don't want to be tagged. It's all in fun

So my kids think they can dance

One of my favorite shows this summer, if not my favorite, is "So you think you can dance". LOVE IT! It's a show that I can actually watch while my kids are in the room (and there aren't many of those left these days), though I usually wait until they're in bed so I can enjoy a show uninterrupted. We were watching it last night and my kids just had to dance. Luke was trying to do what the guy was doing and that's why he's right in front of the TV the whole time. Maya tries a more graceful style. A few more years and a few more dance lessons and my kids may be ready for a real audience. Enjoy!

Under construction

So, I was trying to switch up my template for this blog (on another website) and when I changed it over I lost a lot of page elements. Grrr! Such a pain - so, we'll have to consider my blog to be under construction until I can get all of my little side posts and pics and music back. . .bear with me. I've also lost all my links to your blogs, so don't be offended if your blog isn't on my list - this will all take time. It would be really helpful if you could email me your blog addresses or leave a comment and I can get the link to your blog from that.

Any suggestions?

My first 29th birthday is coming up next week and it's actually worked out that Matt has the week off and we have a babysitter!! My birthday usually gets trumped by long work hours or moving into new homes. Matt requested my birthday week off to try to make up for past birthdays that didn't get the attention they deserved. Brownie points for Matt on that one. Anyway, since we've been in San Antonio, we've only been on 2 dates (we've lived here for a year - I know, it's sad), but we're working on changing that. The point of this post is to get your suggestions - what should we do for our date (other than the obvious dinner and a movie). If any of you have any great restaurants to suggest or places in San Antonio that are fun date places, please post a comment and let me know. We're thinking of finally checking out the River Walk since we'll be child free - though we don't know what to do there. Even if you don't know anything about San Antonio, but you have a creative idea for a date - All suggestions are welcome. Peace out!

4th of July Fun

Hope everyone had a fun 4th of July. My sister Jess and her family came down from exciting Ardmore Oklahoma to visit for the long weekend. We had fun swimming (with some races and diving competitions - Matt's been holding out on me and gave me a run for my money in the pool), watching movies, setting off firecrackers, and talking about the Twilight series (Jess and I are both team Edward). The kids all had so much fun playing together. Anywho - here's a few pics of the fun weekend.

Proud of myself

I'm proud of myself and not ashamed to admit it. Maya's been asking for a haircut for a couple weeks now. She has very thick hair and since it's summertime and hot, it sticks to her neck. I decided to cut it myself. I've never really cut girls hair before (I cut Matt and Luke's but guys hair is much harder to screw up - and if you do, you can just buzz em). If I screwed up Maya's we would've just taken her to the salon and had someone fix it, but I think I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself - and I do!

Who needs swimming lessons???

I was planning on signing Maya up for some swim lessons. She's been "kind of" swimming for the past couple of summers - you know, she can swim but she stays close to the wall as a crutch every time she needs to breathe. Still learning to just tread. Anyway - once our pool opened this summer she surprised me by just swimming all the way across 4 lanes with no help. She's even started working on her freestyle. She's never had swim lessons - just what she's learned from Matt and I. Since I'm a swimmer and life guarded for a few years it's hard for me to justify paying someone else to teach my kids to swim. Maybe next year I'll get her some lessons and we can get more into form and all that good stuff - we'll see.
