Kids say the darndest things

We have guests in town this week. With Matt out of town Luke has been camping on the floor in my room; therefore not using his own bed. So instead of setting up an air mattress for my friends little 2-year-old I figured I'd carry Luke's toddler/crib-sized mattress downstairs for her to sleep on this week.
I asked Luke if that would be okay and his response was, "But then it will smell like girls!"
That boy cracks me up! I assured him it wouldn't because I would put clean sheets on his mattress. This answer eased his worries and he was happy to share.

A Spoonful of Sugar

Hopefully you've all seen Mary Poppins. She sings "A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" as she and the kids magically clean the toy room. I do not have magical powers. I cannot sing and as a result the beds make themselves and the toys march into the toybox - that would be pretty awesome though. But, I did take a lesson from it - turn the chore into a game. Lately, because they are a safe toy for Seth and it's loads of fun, we have Megablocks all over our floor - a couple hundred of them. We have fun building forts and walls and robots with them. However, when that's done, I do not have fun stepping on them or trying to maneuver around them. So, sometimes 2 and 3 times a day we have a boatload of blocks to pick up. This can get old pretty quickly, so I turned it into a game. Pretty simple - basketball. Toss the block from wherever it is on the floor into the block box. Seth has caught on pretty quickly. Whenever he hears the tossing of the blocks, he quickly crawls over and grabs a block and climbs (practically in) to the box and puts them away. He thinks it's great fun. Hey! I'll take whatever help I can get. Train em young.
